Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Box from the app list.

Paste your key
Paste the Client ID and Client secret from your own Box app, then sign in to Box once. In the Box Developer Console click Create New App > Custom App > User Authentication (OAuth 2.0). On the Configuration tab add the redirect URI https://pipmcp.com/oauth/callback, tick the scopes you need (for example Read and write all files and folders) and copy the Client ID and Client secret. PipMCP renews access automatically after that.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in Box?

The AI can search content and read files, folders, recent items, versions, comments, tasks, collaborators and shared links. It can create folders, copy, rename, move and describe files and folders, move files to the trash, share items with people or by link, and add comments and tasks.

Does the AI see my Box credentials?

No. Your Box credentials are encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save them, they are not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start read-only. Shared links, invitations and moving files to the trash can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

Box connects with OAuth, and OAuth connections need the PipMCP Pro plan or above. PipMCP also has a free plan with no credit card, but it does not include this connection. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Box account.

Why do I create my own Box app?

Box connects through an app you own in the Box Developer Console, so you decide its scopes and can revoke it at any time. You paste its Client ID and Client secret into PipMCP and sign in to Box once. PipMCP then renews access automatically, and the AI can only reach what your Box user can reach.
