Paste an 8x8 Connect API key and enter your sub-account ID and the SMS host for your region: sms.8x8.com (Asia-Pacific), sms.us.8x8.com (North America), sms.8x8.uk (Europe) or sms.8x8.id (Indonesia). Create the key in the 8x8 Connect dashboard under API Keys (connect.8x8.com/messaging/api-keys). Add your account ID too if you want balance and price lookups.

What can the AI do in 8x8?
It can send an SMS to one number, now or at a scheduled time, read the details and delivery status of a sent message and cancel a scheduled one. It can read your credit balance and SMS price list, and start and fetch exports of your message logs. It covers the 8x8 Connect SMS API, not 8x8 Work or Contact Center.
Does the AI see my 8x8 credentials?
No. Your 8x8 API key is encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save it, it is not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.
Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?
Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start with status, balance and price lookups only. Sending an SMS reaches a real person and is billed by 8x8, so it can require your approval before it runs. Every tool call is logged.
Does it work with ChatGPT?
Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.
What does it cost?
PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own 8x8 Connect account. Messages you send are billed by 8x8 on your own account.
Why do I need a sub-account ID and a region?
8x8 Connect sends every message from a sub-account, so the sub-account ID is part of each call. The API also runs on separate hosts per region, so PipMCP needs the SMS host that matches your account. The account ID is only used for the balance and price lookups.
