Connect Claude & ChatGPT to smsmode

Ask your AI to text a customer, schedule a reminder to a list of numbers, or check whether a message was delivered. It sends single SMS and campaigns through smsmode, changes or cancels scheduled sends, and looks up phone numbers before you send. Short customer messages go out without opening another dashboard.

    It looks up the number and shows whether it is valid, with its country and mobile network.

  • “Move tomorrow's campaign to Friday and change the sender name.”

    It updates the scheduled campaign's send date and sender, as long as it has not been sent yet.

  • “Cancel scheduled SMS 48290.”

    It cancels the scheduled SMS so it is not sent. This cannot be undone.

Set up in three steps

    Pick the app

    Create a free PipMCP account and choose smsmode from the app list.

    Paste your key

    Paste your smsmode API key. Log in to your smsmode account at ui.smsmode.com, open the developer settings and generate a new API key. Copy it and paste it here.

    Add the link to your AI

    You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:

    1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
    2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
    3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in smsmode?

It can send single SMS and SMS campaigns, now or at a scheduled time, change or cancel scheduled messages and campaigns, read a message or campaign with its delivery details, and look up a phone number's validity, country and network.

Does the AI see my smsmode API key?

No. Your smsmode API key is encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save it, it is not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start with lookups only. Sending, which reaches your recipients and uses credits, and cancelling a scheduled send can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own smsmode account. The SMS themselves use credits in your smsmode account.

Can I change or stop an SMS after scheduling it?

Yes, as long as it has not been sent. The AI can change the text, recipient, sender or send date of a scheduled SMS or campaign, or cancel it. A cancellation cannot be undone.
