Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Slack from the app list.

Paste your key
Go to api.slack.com/apps and create an app for your workspace. Under OAuth & Permissions, add the Bot Token Scopes you need (for example chat:write, channels:read, channels:history, users:read) and click 'Install to Workspace'. Copy the Bot User OAuth Token (it starts with xoxb-) and paste it into PipMCP. Invite the bot to every channel it should read or post in.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in Slack?

It can search messages, read channel history and thread replies, list channels, members, users, files, reminders and scheduled messages, and get message links. It can post, schedule, edit and delete messages, open direct messages, join public channels, add and remove reactions and create reminders. What it can reach also depends on the scopes you give your Slack app and the channels the bot is in.

Does the AI see my Slack token?

No. Your bot token is encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save it, it is not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start with reading and searching only. Posting and scheduling reach your colleagues, and deleting a message cannot be undone. These can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need a Slack workspace where you can create and install an app.

Why can't the AI read a channel?

The Slack app only sees channels the bot has been invited to, and only with the scopes you added. Invite the bot to the channel, or let the AI join a public channel with join_channel. For private channels and direct messages, add the matching scopes in your Slack app and reinstall it.
