Connect Claude & ChatGPT to Optimizely Campaign

Ask your AI how a campaign performed, how many recipients a list has, or to add a new subscriber. It can read and update recipients, list campaigns and their mailings, send test mailings, start or stop a mailing and send transactional mails. Bounces, unsubscribes and the blocklist are covered too.

Connect Optimizely Campaign free

Free plan, no credit card. Takes about a minute.

Try asking

  • “How did last week's newsletter campaign perform?”

The AI finds the campaign and reads its report with sends, opens, clicks and bounces.

  • “How many recipients are on the Customers DK list?”

It finds the recipient list and counts its recipients.

  • “Add [email protected] to the newsletter list with first name Anna.”

It checks the list's fields and adds the recipient with the data you gave.

What your AI can do

Recipients and lists

List recipient lists and their fields, count, read, add and update recipients, and remove a recipient from a list.

Campaigns and mailings

List and create campaigns, read their mailings and reports, send test mailings, and start or stop a mailing.

Transactional mails and deliverability

Send transactional mails and read their reports, list message templates, bounces and unsubscribes, and manage the blocklist.

  • “Send a test of the October mailing to our test recipients.”

It sends a test version of the mailing to the recipients you pick from a test list. Real emails go out to them.

  • “Which addresses hard bounced on the last mailing?”

It lists responses in the hardbounce category for that mailing.

  • “Unsubscribe [email protected] and block every address at example.net.”

It unsubscribes the recipient and adds the pattern *@example.net to the blocklist.

Set up in three steps

  1. 1

    Pick the app

Create a free PipMCP account and choose Optimizely Campaign from the app list.

  2. 2

    Paste your key

Paste three values: your API user name, its password and your client ID. Optimizely customer support creates the REST API user for your client: give them a new email address on the same domain as your Optimizely Campaign login and activate the user from the email they send. The client ID is in Optimizely Campaign under Administration > API Overview > REST API.

  3. 3

Add the link to your AI

You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:

    1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
    2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
    3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in Optimizely Campaign?

The AI can read recipient lists, recipients, campaigns, mailings, reports, transactional mails, message templates, bounces, unsubscribes and the blocklist. It can add and update recipients, remove them from a list, create campaigns, send test mailings, start and stop mailings, send transactional mails, unsubscribe recipients and add blocklist entries.

Does the AI see my Optimizely Campaign API password?

No. Your Optimizely Campaign credentials are encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save them, they are not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start with reports and lookups only. Starting a mailing sends email to the campaign's recipients and cannot be undone once delivered, and removing a recipient from a list is permanent. These actions can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Optimizely Campaign account.

How do I get an API user for Optimizely Campaign?

The REST API uses a separate API user, which Optimizely customer support creates for your client on request. You give them a new email address on the same domain as your Optimizely Campaign login and activate the user from the email you receive. Then paste the API user's name and password into PipMCP together with your client ID.
