Set up in three steps

Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Open Badge Factory from the app list.

Paste your key
Enter your Organisation ID as the client ID, your client secret, and your Organisation ID again in the last field. In Open Badge Factory, open Admin tools > API and generate a client secret. PipMCP uses them to get access tokens, so there is no separate sign-in.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in Open Badge Factory?

The AI can read your organisation, badges, earnable badges, badge applications, issuing events and badge recipients. It can issue badges, approve or reject badge applications and revoke badges from recipients of an issuing event.

Does the AI see my Open Badge Factory credentials?

No. Your Open Badge Factory credentials are encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save them, they are not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start read-only. Issuing, approving, rejecting and revoking badges affect real people and can send them emails, so they can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

Open Badge Factory connects with OAuth, and OAuth connections need the PipMCP Pro plan or above. PipMCP also has a free plan with no credit card, but it does not include this connection. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Open Badge Factory account.

Why do I enter the Organisation ID twice?

Open Badge Factory uses your organisation ID as the client ID for API access. PipMCP also needs it as the Organisation ID, so it goes in both fields, together with the client secret you generate under Admin tools > API.
