Connect Claude & ChatGPT to Timely
Ask your AI how many hours went into a project this month, to log two hours on a client, or to plan a task for a colleague in Timely. It can list and log time entries, run grouped time reports, manage projects, clients and planned tasks, and see users, teams and capacity. Timesheet questions get answered without building a report by hand.
Free plan, no credit card. Takes about a minute.
Try asking
“Log 2 hours on the Website project today with the note 'homepage review'.”
The AI finds the project and logs a time entry for today with the duration and note.
“How many hours did the team log per project last month?”
It runs a time report for the period, grouped by project.
“Which hours did Anna log this week?”
It lists Anna's time entries for the week with projects, durations and notes.
What your AI can do

“What is the budget and hourly rate on project Nordic Rebrand?”
It reads the project with its client, budget, rate and labels.
“Plan a 4 hour task for Jonas on the Website project next Monday.”
It creates a planned task on the project for Jonas with the dates and estimated time.
“Who has spare capacity next week?”
It lists users' working capacity for the week, so you can compare it with planned work.

Set up in three steps
- 1
Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Timely from the app list.
- 2
Paste your key
Create your own OAuth application in Timely, paste its Client ID and Secret with your account ID, then sign in with Timely once. You need admin access. Open https://app.timelyapp.com/{your account ID}/oauth_applications (the account ID is the number right after app.timelyapp.com/ in your browser), create an OAuth application with the redirect URI https://pipmcp.com/oauth/callback, and copy the Client ID and Secret.
- 3
Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
- Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
- Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
- Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.
Questions
What can the AI do in Timely?
It can list and read time entries, users, projects, clients, labels, teams, planned tasks and capacity, and run time reports. It can log, update and delete time entries, start and stop timers, create and update projects and clients, and create and update planned tasks.
Does the AI see my Timely credentials?
No. Your Timely credentials are encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save them, they are not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.
Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?
Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start with reports only. Deleting a time entry is permanent, and starting or stopping timers changes what your team sees, so these can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.
Does it work with ChatGPT?
Yes. In ChatGPT, open Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced, turn on Developer mode and add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.
What does it cost?
Timely connects with OAuth, and this OAuth connection needs the PipMCP Pro plan. PipMCP also has a free plan with no credit card, but it does not include this connection. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Timely account.
Why do I create my own OAuth application?
Timely connects through OAuth, so PipMCP needs an application in your Timely account to sign in with. You create it under oauth_applications with the redirect URI https://pipmcp.com/oauth/callback, paste the Client ID and Secret, and sign in once. The application stays in your account, so you control it.
