Ask your AI how candidates did on an exam, what a learner has been assigned, or to enrol a group in next week's exam window in Synap. It can read users, groups, courses, quizzes, exams, exam windows, attempts, assignments and learning records. It can also register and update users, add them to groups and enrol candidates, so running a cohort takes a few questions instead of a lot of admin screens.

Set up in three steps

Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Synap from the app list.

Paste your key
Paste a Synap Personal Access Token and enter your Portal ID. As a portal administrator click Settings, then under Automations click API and create a Personal Access Token. It starts with p: and is shown only once.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in Synap?

It can read your portal, users, user groups, courses, quizzes, collections, content, exams, exam windows, attempts, assignments and learning records. It can register and update users, add users to groups and enrol users or groups in an exam window.

Does the AI see my Synap access token?

No. Your Synap access token is encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save it, it is not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start read-only. Registering users and enrolling candidates can send them emails, and those tools can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Synap account.

Why does Synap need a Portal ID?

Synap sends the Portal ID with every request so the API knows which portal you mean. You enter it next to your Personal Access Token, and the AI works in that portal. It can also read the portal's details to confirm which one it is connected to.
