Set up in three steps

Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Sortd for Gmail from the app list.

Paste your key
Paste a Sortd API key (it starts with sk_live_). In the Sortd app open Settings (the cog, bottom-left) → API tab, name the key, pick the scopes it needs (for example tasks.read, tasks.write, boards.read, lists.read) and click Generate. The secret is shown only once.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in Sortd?

It can search and read tasks, boards, lists, board members, teams, contacts, companies, task comments and Gmail threads. It can create, update, move, complete, reopen and delete tasks, add comments and reminders, link threads to tasks, create and update contacts, save email drafts, send and reply to email, and archive threads.

Does the AI see my Sortd credentials?

No. Your Sortd API key is encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save it, it is not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start with tasks only. Sending email, archiving threads and deleting tasks can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Sortd account.

Can the AI send email from my Gmail?

Only if you switch those tools on. send_email and reply_to_email_thread send right away from the Gmail account connected to Sortd. The draft tools only save a draft, and nothing is sent. You can leave the sending tools off or require approval for them.
