Connect Claude & ChatGPT to QuickChart

Ask your AI for a chart and get an image back. It can turn a description or your numbers into a Chart.js chart, render it as PNG, SVG or PDF, or save it and give you a short link to share. It can also make QR codes and barcodes, read a QR code from an image, and render word clouds, tables and Graphviz diagrams.

Try asking

  • “Make a bar chart of monthly revenue: January 120k, February 135k, March 160k.”

The AI builds a Chart.js config and renders the chart as an image.

  • “Give me a short link to that chart for the newsletter.”

It saves the chart and returns a short image URL you can share.

  • “Make a QR code for our booking page with the caption Book a table.”

It renders a QR code image for the page's URL with your caption.

What your AI can do

Charts

Render Chart.js charts as PNG, SVG or PDF, save them as short URLs, build a config from a plain description and check a config for errors.

QR codes and barcodes

Make single or many QR codes with colours, captions and a center logo, render barcodes such as code128 and ean13, and read QR codes.

Word clouds, tables and diagrams

Render word clouds from text, tables from data and diagrams from Graphviz, and put a watermark or logo on an image.

  • “Make 30 QR codes, one per table, each linking to its own order page.”

It builds the image URLs for all of them in one call.

  • “What does the QR code in this image say?”

It decodes the QR code from the public image URL and returns its text.

  • “Draw our release process as a diagram: build, test, staging, production.”

It writes a Graphviz description and renders the diagram as SVG or PNG.

Questions

What can the AI do in QuickChart?

The AI can render Chart.js charts as images, save charts and return short URLs, turn a plain description into a chart config and check configs for errors. It can make QR codes and barcodes, read QR codes from images, and render word clouds, tables, Graphviz diagrams and watermarked images.

Does the AI see my QuickChart API key?

No. Your QuickChart credentials are encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save them, they are not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on. Most QuickChart tools only render images from the data you give them, while create_chart_url saves the chart on QuickChart so the short link works. Any tool can require your approval, and every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own QuickChart account.

What kinds of charts can it make?

QuickChart renders Chart.js chart configs, so the AI can make the chart types Chart.js supports, such as bar, line and pie charts. If you describe a chart in plain words, generate_chart_config turns the description into a config, and validate_chart checks a config for errors before it is rendered.
