Connect Claude & ChatGPT to Postcodes.io

Ask your AI where a UK postcode is and which areas it belongs to. It looks up postcodes with Postcodes.io and returns coordinates, local authority, ward, constituency, region and country. It can also find the nearest postcodes to a point, check whether an old postcode has been terminated and look up outward codes and places.

Questions

What can the AI do in Postcodes.io?

It can look up a postcode, an outward code, a Scottish postcode or a place, find postcodes matching a partial postcode, reverse geocode a latitude and longitude, list the nearest postcodes and check whether a postcode has been terminated.

Does the AI see my Postcodes.io credentials?

There are none to see. Postcodes.io is a free, open-source API that needs no account or API key, so you do not paste anything into PipMCP. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on. All tools here only read public postcode data, so nothing is changed. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT, open Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced, turn on Developer mode and add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. Postcodes.io itself is a free, open-source API.

Does it return street addresses?

No. The tools return where a postcode is and which areas it belongs to, such as local authority, ward, constituency, region and country, plus coordinates. They do not list the individual addresses in a postcode.
