Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose JW Player from the app list.

Paste your key
Paste your JWP API secret (v2) and your Property ID (site ID). In the JWP dashboard open Account > Developer tools > Management API, choose your property and click Show Secret on an API key (or create one first). Copy the v2 secret. The Property ID is shown on the same page.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in JW Player?

It can search and read videos, their images and caption tracks, playlists, players, series, seasons, thumbnails, feed imports, live channels, channel events and live streams. It can add a video from a URL, update a video's metadata, replace its source file and delete a video.

Does the AI see my JW Player API secret?

No. Your JW Player API secret is encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save it, it is not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start read-only. Deleting a video removes it and all its files permanently, and replacing a source file changes what viewers see, so both can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own JW Player account.

Why does JW Player need a Property ID?

JWP organises videos, playlists and players by property, and the API works on one property at a time. The Property ID (site ID) tells PipMCP which one to use. You find it on the Management API page in the JWP dashboard, next to your v2 API secret.
