Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Jira from the app list.

Enter your Jira site name (the part before .atlassian.net), the email you log in to Jira with, and an API token. To create the token, sign in at id.atlassian.com, open Security > API tokens and click Create API token.

Questions

What can the AI do in Jira?

The AI can search issues with JQL and read issues, projects, comments, worklogs, change history, priorities and users. It can create and edit issues, assign them, change their status, link issues, add watchers, add and edit comments, and log work. It sees the same projects as the Atlassian account you connect.

Does the AI see my Jira API token?

No. Your Jira credentials are encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save them, they are not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start read-only. Actions such as assigning an issue or changing its status can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Jira account.

Which Jira site does the AI work in?

The one you enter when you connect. PipMCP stores the site name with the connection, so the AI never has to ask for it, and it acts as the Atlassian account whose email and token you pasted. PipMCP is an independent service and is not affiliated with Atlassian.
