What can the AI do in Ideal Postcodes?
The AI can look up UK postcodes, search and autocomplete addresses, resolve suggestions and Royal Mail UDPRNs and UMPRNs to full addresses, cleanse freeform addresses and find places with coordinates. With a key licensed for it, it can also validate phone numbers and check whether email addresses are deliverable.
Does the AI see my Ideal Postcodes API key?
No. Your Ideal Postcodes API key is encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save it, it is not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.
Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?
Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can for example allow postcode lookups but not phone or email validation. Tools that use lookups from your balance can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.
Does it work with ChatGPT?
Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

Do lookups use my Ideal Postcodes balance?
Most tools do. Postcode lookups, address searches, resolving an address or place, UDPRN and UMPRN lookups, a matched cleanse, phone checks and validated emails each use a lookup. Autocomplete suggestions are free. Each API key has its own lookup balance.
