Ask your AI which intake matters were submitted this week, what assets a client listed, or to start a new matter from a questionnaire in DecisionVault. It can search matters and read the client's answers, assets, contacts, roles and uploaded documents, including financial documents. It can also create matters and invite clients, so preparing for a client meeting starts with a question instead of a stack of forms.

Set up in three steps

Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose DecisionVault from the app list.

Paste your key
Paste a DecisionVault API key. You must be a firm admin. In DecisionVault open Settings > Integrations, turn on the Developer API if needed and create an API key.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in DecisionVault?

It can search and read matters, questionnaires, answers, clients, contacts, assets, roles, documents, financial documents and categories, events and firm users. It can create a new matter from a questionnaire, either on its own or with the clients invited to fill it in.

Does the AI see my DecisionVault API key?

No. Your DecisionVault API key is encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save it, it is not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start read-only. Creating a matter and inviting clients sends them an email, and that tool can require your approval before it runs. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own DecisionVault account.

Does creating a matter email my clients?

Only with create_matter_and_invite. That tool creates the matter and emails the invited clients so they can fill in the questionnaire. create_matter creates the matter without inviting anyone. You can keep the invite tool off or require approval for it.
