Set up in three steps

Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Data8 from the app list.

Paste your key
Paste a server-side Data8 API key. In the Data8 dashboard go to Development > API Keys and create a server-side API key, then copy it here. Calls use your Data8 credits.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

What can the AI do in Data8?

It can validate email addresses, phone numbers, mobile numbers, UK phone lines, websites, IBANs and UK bank accounts, format phone numbers and check UK numbers against TPS and Corporate TPS. It can search and retrieve addresses, detect a contact's country and clean or parse names. It can also search businesses and UK companies and get Companies House details, filed financials and business credit checks.

Does the AI see my Data8 API key?

No. Your Data8 credentials are encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save them, they are not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can turn on only the checks you need. Tools that use Data8 credits, such as credit checks and email validation, can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Data8 account, and most checks use your Data8 credits.

Do the checks use my Data8 credits?

Most of them do. Validations, address lookups, name cleaning, business credit checks and financials are charged to your Data8 credits, the same as when you call Data8 directly. You can switch off the tools you do not want the AI to use, or require approval for them.
