Set up in three steps

Pick the app
Create a free PipMCP account and choose Octane AI from the app list.

Paste your key
Paste an Octane AI API key (it starts with oct_live_). In the Octane AI dashboard open Developer > API keys, create a key and choose the scopes you need. The default is read-only. Copy the key right away, it is shown only once. The Octane AI API needs the Plus or Enterprise plan.

Add the link to your AI
You get a personal MCP link. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor:
1. Click your name, then Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector.
2. Paste your link as the Remote MCP server URL.
3. Switch it on from the + menu in a chat.

Questions

What can the AI do in Octane AI?

The AI can read store and quiz analytics, funnels, answer stats, quiz products, quizzes and their saved versions, shopper profiles, experiments and exports. It can create, start and end A/B experiments, request exports, publish a saved quiz version, and archive or restore quizzes.

Does the AI see my Octane AI API key?

No. Your Octane AI credentials are encrypted at rest and never shown to the AI. After you save them, they are not shown again, not even to you. The AI only sees the results of the tools it calls.

Can I control what the AI is allowed to do?

Yes. You choose which tools are switched on, so you can start with analytics only. Publishing a quiz version, starting an experiment and archiving a quiz change what shoppers see on your store, and they can require your approval before they run. Every tool call is logged.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT go to Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, then add your PipMCP link. Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. The same link also works in Claude (Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector), Cursor and other MCP clients.

What does it cost?

PipMCP has a free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans bill per completed task. You also need your own Octane AI account on the Plus or Enterprise plan, since the Octane AI API needs one of those.

Which scopes should my Octane AI key have?

Start with the default read-only scope if you only want analytics and shopper profiles. Add more scopes when you want the AI to run experiments or publish quizzes. Octane AI only allows what the key's scopes permit, on top of the tools you switch on in PipMCP.
